Animal Farm
The pigs divert attention form the Animals’ hardship on the farm through the use of parades, songs and propaganda. Squealer uses words in ways that completely contradict their meaning, such as the ‘Spontaneous Demonstration’ Which is carefully organised, and the ‘ Republic’ Which has only one candidate for election: Napoleon. When the animals rations have to be reduced, Squealer refers to the change as a ‘re-adjustment’, never a ‘reduction’. Another way they used propaganda was in Old Major's speech, he refers tot he animals that humans are enemies and tries to unite all animals to go against human beings. He suggests that everyones lives would be better and easier, then teaches them a simple and easy song to remember called 'Beasts of England' [11]
Russian Revolution
The Bolsheviks used a lot of different types of propaganda during the Russian revolution. For example having poster, leaflets and film being put out in public. but the most successful type of propaganda that was used in the early half of the revolution was the 'agitprop' trains, when the trains are painted in modern and bold designs. As the trains went around the country, the design on it will help persuade people of the Bolshevik mission. An interesting poster used was one of the works of Mayakovsky:[12]
